Is there anyone else?

Raise your hand if you've ever felt like all the good ones are taken. 🙋🏽‍♀️ And the only ones left are the ones that are socially awkward, have poor communication skills, dorky and none that you're attracted to. When you look across the dating landscape today, you are discouraged and even feel hopeless with who's left. Feeling like there's no one left that you ACTUALLY want, and who would want you as well. But that my friend, is a LIE!

They're all taken

The enemy would love nothing more than for you to give up hope and even become depressed and bitter at God when it comes to a future mate. Don't fall for his trap! I know you can't see it right now, but there are so many amazing people who are available and desiring marriage like you. They're NOT all taken.

It kind of reminds of the story in 1 Kings 19.

This is the story where Elijah has just killed the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. He is now on the run for his life. He's exhausted, scared, feeling alone and even suicidal. Towards the end of that chapter, he is having a conversation with God. In verse 14 he says, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsake Your covenant, torn down Your alters, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life." I absolutely love God's response to him. In verse 18, God says to him, "Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal..." God was like, you ain't the only one!

Now, am I taking this passage out of context? Completely! 😂 But I think it proves a point. Sometimes we feel like we're the only ones out here lonely and single, and that no one else understands. You're not the only one still single! There are so many brothers and sisters in Christ that can relate to every struggle, frustration and temptation you face. AND if you think about it, that means there are so many available men and women out there!

Be Encouraged

Ok. So, what now?

  • Know that you're not alone

  • There IS someone out there for you

  • Continue pressing in to God

Maybe it's timing. Maybe you're not in the location you need to be in to meet them. Maybe there's still more healing that needs to take place on the inside of you first. Maybe you need to be obedient to the last thing God told you to do, etc. Whatever the reason, this is not a hard thing for God. God knows how to speak to you and your future spouse, and how to guide you to one another. But you have a part to play too. Your obedience and faith and willingness are a factor.

God is good, friend. And He is faithful and can be trusted. So while we wait, let's continue to draw closer to Him, grow in our faith, and do the things He's calling us to do.
